Outer Banks Health is dedicated to supporting you through every stage of your cancer journey. Our Cancer Resource Center, located on the second floor of the Cowell Cancer Center, offers a warm and comforting environment for patients, families, caregivers, and others seeking information and guidance related to a cancer diagnosis. Services include education to enhance decision-making, a care navigator to assist with complex health systems, and referrals to community resources.
In partnership with the Look Good, Feel Better Foundation, the Professional Beauty Look Association, and local cosmetologists, we offer the Look Good, Feel Better Program for female cancer patients. These free sessions are led by trained beauty professionals who demonstrate makeup techniques, wig styling, and scarf tying to help women cope with treatment side effects such as hair loss and changes to skin complexion and nails. Sessions are also available virtually. To enroll, please contact Marie Neilson at 252-449-5935 or [email protected].
Outside of the program, Outer Banks Health offers free wigs to cancer patients. Contact Marie Neilson for more information.
The Cancer Transition program is crafted to assist individuals with strategies to live life to the fullest after cancer treatment. The program acknowledges the diverse responses to cancer and its treatment, understanding that there’s no universal way to live as a cancer survivor. Gatherings over four consecutive weeks provide opportunities for participants to engage in expert-led presentations, group discussions, and goal-setting sessions tailored to their individual needs and aspirations. Contact Marie Neilson for more information.
