Financial Assistance Policy
At Outer Banks Health, we are committed to providing quality healthcare to everyone who seeks our services. We realize that healthcare is costly and may be a financial hardship to patients and their families.
Eligibility for Medicaid or other Government Assistance
In partnership with ECU Health, Outer Banks Health provides financial assistance in determining if you qualify for Medicaid and in applying for other government-assisted programs. Department of Social Services employees are on site at some ECU Health facilities, and our financial counselors are available upon request during or following the time you receive care.
Eligibility for Charity Care
In partnership with ECU Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, Outer Banks Health offers charity care to our patients who are unable to pay due to financial hardships. We may require supporting documents including tax returns, pay stubs, Social Security award letter and other financial information. Patients will qualify for 100% assistance based on the following key criteria:
- Income below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines based on family size
