Outer Banks Health has earned Advanced Disease-Specific Care Certification for Acute Stroke Ready Hospital from the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. This designation for excellence in the care of stroke patients recognizes Outer Banks Health as equipped to treat stroke patients with timely, evidence-based care prior to transferring them to a primary or comprehensive stroke center.
As the first hospital in this region to incorporate 24/7 teleneurology program back in 2014 to assist with stroke treatment, Outer Banks Health has taken diagnosis and treatment of stroke to the next level with this certification.
