Outer Banks Health Hospital’s Emergency Department is open 24/7 to deliver life-saving care when it’s needed. In addition to treating general emergencies, we are an acute stroke ready hospital and we also provide specific treatment such as cardiac monitoring and orthopedic care, all while maintaining as much privacy as possible.
When you arrive, a triage nurse evaluates your condition in order to treat the most seriously ill patients first. However, all patients are seen in a timely manner.
The Outer Banks Health Hospital’s care team includes physicians who are board eligible and/or certified in emergency medicine or family medicine, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses certified in advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support. Based on your condition, we may be able to care for you from the Emergency Department. However, if you need additional or more specialized care, you may be admitted or transferred to a higher level of care.
Awarded $250,000 over two years, researchers at Vidant collaborated with East Carolina University’s (ECU) Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) to build a mobile simulation.
