With North Carolina COVID-19 guidelines restricting mass indoor gatherings, The Outer Banks Hospital is unable to host its annual Gala in the traditional way. The event, typically attended by more than 300 supporters in early February, raises important funds for the hospital, which in recent years has been earmarked for the future outpatient Cancer Center. In 2020, the hospital Gala raised more than $175,000 thanks to the generous support of sponsors and individuals in our community.

In lieu of an in-person Gala in 2021, The Outer Banks Hospital Development Council, along with lead sponsor Outer Banks Blue, is excited to share two opportunities in which the community can continue to support this transformative Cancer Center initiative. On Saturday, February 13, 2021, the With Love Gala to Go will offer everything needed to enjoy the Gala from the comfort of one’s home. With a Gala to Go purchase, supporters will receive a five-course Italian meal for two by Dawn’s Kitchen Catering, a bottle of wine, a floral arrangement by Holiday House Weddings & Events, and more. Gala to Go purchases must be made by 6pm on Friday, January 29 and information about the $150 Gala to Go package (dinner for two), along with detailed dinner options and tickets, can be found online at At the time of purchase, supporters will have the opportunity to select appetizers, main courses, desserts, and salad dressings. Meals will be available for pick-up on Saturday, February 13, 2021 in Nags Head or Kitty Hawk between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

In addition to the With Love Gala to Go, the hospital has partnered with Kellogg Supply Company to offer a special raffle prize for the third consecutive year. The Winter in Your Backyard Raffle offers a chance to transform your backyard into a cozy winter retreat! This year’s raffle package includes a fire pit, Oklahoma Joe’s smoker, four Adirondack chairs, dinner and dessert for 10 people from Dawn’s Kitchen Catering, a Bose Bluetooth Speaker, four OBX blankets, and four Yeti Rambler mugs. The value of the raffle package is $3,500 and the price per ticket is $20. Tickets are available online at or can be purchased at Kellogg Supply Company and Cottage Shop locations in Manteo, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and Duck. One winner will be randomly selected on Saturday, February 13, 2020 at 6pm and will be announced on the Hospital’s Facebook page.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the With Love Gala to Go and the Winter in Your Backyard Raffle remain on the Outer Banks to benefit the hospital’s future Cancer Center. We all know someone who has faced the devastating effects of cancer, and the community’s support of these fundraising efforts will make a difference for local cancer patients. The Outer Banks Hospital has a vision to build a state-of-the-art Cancer Center that helps diagnose the disease in the earliest stages and educates our community on healthy lifestyles and prevention. Together, we can build a future with more cancer survivors, less severe diagnoses, and people living longer and healthier lives.
