Outer Banks Health is proud to announce Madeline Luthman, BSN, RN, as the recipient of the 2025 Horizon Award for Team Member of the Year. Luthman is a Staff Nurse IV at Outer Banks Health Urgent Care in Kitty Hawk.

Luthman joined Outer Banks Health in February 2016 and has consistently demonstrated excellence, growth and compassion while reflecting the organization’s ICEAST values.

After recently earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Luthman continues to pursue professional development while serving as a preceptor and mentor to new nurses and students. She teaches clinical skills and models empathy, integrity and professionalism.

Her commitment to patient care is unwavering. Luthman prioritizes patient education to ensure individuals understand their treatment plans and feel empowered in their health journey. Her ability to listen, explain and advocate sets her apart as both a nurse and an educator.

As a teammate, Luthman is known for her positivity, reliability and willingness to step in wherever needed. She supports multiple departments, covers other clinics and consistently assists colleagues. Her “we’ve got this” attitude inspires confidence and strengthens the entire team.

Peers describe Luthman as a leader, mentor and role model who makes a lasting impact on both patients and coworkers. One team member shared, “Watching her advocate for her patients and support her team has given me a standard I will always strive to meet.”
