NAGS HEAD, N.C. — May 26, 2026 — Outer Banks Health announced its Internal Medicine practice will relocate to a new, larger facility at 5531 N. Croatan Hwy. on June 22, 2026. To celebrate this milestone, a community ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Aug. 26, 2026, at 4 p.m. at the new location.

Previously located in Nags Head, OBH Internal Medicine will now reside in the Southern Shores Marketplace Shopping Center, located at the eastern corner. This 4,220-square-foot facility offers more accessibility with an ADA focus, plentiful parking, five modern exam rooms and an enhanced patient experience. The practice will continue to offer annual wellness visits and patient appointments and begin to support behavioral health.

“We are thrilled to move into this new space. This move represents the promise of our mission — delivering high-quality, compassionate care — while growing and adapting alongside our community. The facility is modern, ADA-focused, and will have an improved design to better serve our patients,” said Lynne Miles, executive director, medical group operations, Outer Banks Health.

The entrance, which was previously raised several feet from the ground, now sits flush to the sidewalk with a ramp for easy accessibility, underscoring Outer Banks Health’s dedication to providing quality care for all community members.

“I am excited to see patients in this new space. It will have an overall fresh, updated atmosphere, and I think patients will thoroughly enjoy being in the practice,” said Vern A. Metcalf, MD, Outer Banks Health Internal Medicine.

Patients may be seen at the new location beginning June 22. Outer Banks Health invites the public to join in celebrating this new chapter for OBH Internal Medicine.

About Outer Banks Health

Outer Banks Health is a growing health system that provides a range of health and wellness services for our community. Designed especially to meet the health needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of 35,000 swells to over 250,000 in the summer season, we’re first in the state for patient satisfaction, first in the nation to pilot groundbreaking rural health cancer programs, and the very first to be designated a Dementia Friendly Hospital. We work with our partners, ECU Health and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, along with other health organizations throughout North Carolina and Virginia, to help our residents and visitors access the best possible care for their diagnosis. Many times we deliver that care right here, close to home.
