Since joining Outer Banks Health in April 2022, Highsmith has become well known for her outstanding contributions, leadership and commitment to team members across the organization.
She exemplifies the best of Outer Banks Health and its core values of integrity, compassion, education, accountability, safety and teamwork. Her steady presence and genuine care for others are felt throughout the organization.
Known for her people-first approach, Highsmith consistently goes above and beyond, supporting teams after hours, on weekends and behind the scenes to ensure everyone feels supported, informed and valued. In her role, she champions inclusion and brings compassion and intention to every interaction. “Jensen is the heartbeat of team member engagement at OBH,” one team member shared. Another added, “She always has a smile on her face.”
A natural connector and lifelong learner, Highsmith recently completed her Master of Healthcare Administration and applies her knowledge to strengthen onboarding, engagement and the overall team member experience. From coordinating events such as Harvest for Health, Winter Lights and Healthcare Week to organizing Giving Tree donations and morale-boosting pop-ups, she is often the quiet force ensuring others are celebrated. “She never seeks recognition, but her impact is felt in every smile, every success and every moment of calm she brings to the hospital,” a team member shared.
Outer Banks Health thanks Highsmith for leading with heart, kindness and joy. She is truly an essential part of the team.
