During this unique event\, when patients come in for their annual flu vaccine\, individuals ages 50 and older will also be offered a Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kit to screen for colorectal cancer. Colon cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer diagnosed in Dare County\, with 80% of these cancers detected at a late stage. \nFIT kits will be completed in the comfort of one’s home and returned for immediate results on Monday\, September 13. If you have questions about FIT test criteria or this event\, please call 449-4529. \nFlu Vaccines & FIT Pick-up: Thursday\, September 9 | 9:00am-Noon \nFlu Vaccines & FIT Drop-off: Monday\, September 13 | 9:00am-Noon \nEligibility: FIT Kits are intended to screen adults 50 years of age and older who are at average risk for colorectal cancer by detecting certain DNA markers and blood in the stool. Do not use if you have had adenomas\, inflammatory bowel disease and certain hereditary syndromes\, or a personal or family history of colorectal cancer.
