Taking care of your breasts include doing monthly self-exams for any unusual signs or symptoms and yearly clinical breast exams with a healthcare professional. Outer Banks Health offers Breast Cancer Screening using digital, also known as 3D mammography. Free screening mammograms are available to individuals who do not have health insurance that covers the cost of a screening mammogram. Dare County residents as well as Hyde, Currituck and Tyrell County residents who work in Dare County are eligible. The free screenings are made available by the Get Pinked! Program of Outer Banks Health’s Development Council.

A physician order is needed to schedule an appointment for your mammogram. Contact your primary care provider or OB/GYN for your mammography order. For more information about screening mammography at Outer Banks Health and to schedule your appointment, call 449-5918.
